In a vibrant blend of music, theater, and visual arts, School of the Nations recently hosted its traditional Arts Day, filling the morning with joy, creativity, and learning.
At School of the Nations, Arts Day is more than just an event—it is a celebration of the many forms of artistic expression cultivated within our community. From painting to theater, the event showcases the work our students have produced throughout the semester in music, theater, and visual arts. Organized by our dedicated Arts Department staff members, the event took place on Saturday, November 9, at the main campus.
Arts Day brought together students, families, and staff from Early Childhood through High School. The program opened with a theater performance by Grade 7 students, who presented the play Aladdin, displaying their talent and skills developed in our theater classes.
Throughout the morning, participants enjoyed a variety of workshops, including crochet mandala-making and tie-dye sessions, as well as an interactive art room featuring student-created designs and installations inspired by today’s emerging artists. The event also included an art fair with local artists and members of the national community.
One of the day’s highlights was a joint performance by our cheerleaders—from Early Childhood to Middle School—alongside the Nations Marching Band, representing the Cougars with a debut performance that was met with enthusiasm.
Another unique feature of this year’s Arts Day was the Moving Art Parade. This year, all participants were invited to come dressed as their favorite artistic figures, and we enjoyed creative representations of icons such as Yayoi Kusama and Frida Kahlo.
To close the day, the Nations Parents’ Choir, led by Ms. Júlia Pacheco, delighted the audience with a four-song performance. This was followed by a showcase from our High School students. Guided by the Moral Education Department, students distributed flags adorned with messages of love, justice, and empathy during an inspiring flash mob. Aligned with this year’s theme, “Art Unites,” the flash mob conveyed a message of hope and unity—values we strive to build and sustain throughout life as global citizens.
Arts Day embodies our commitment to fostering an education that transcends academic skills, emphasizing the holistic development of each student and their growth as global citizens.
